Groups are part of my higher power. Wherever two or more gather, there’s a field bigger than me, and I’ve learned that even if it is mundane at times, power dances there right out loud and often below the surface.
I’ve learned alot about Group as Higher Power in Alanon. I navigate multi-generational disorders. It’s so hard to depend solely on my precarious center. I need exo-skeletal muscles that help me stay healthy around loved ones who struggle.
In addition to the Great Mystery that holds and guides me, when I struggle, I find relief in the presence of people who together treasure and reinvigorate our collective healthy body memory. What a balm not to have to explain that, like other sensitive people, I’m constantly sorting, reflecting, releasing, and recentering my wee plot of body and soul. I know grace when I free myself from holding it all together.
It’s in our human DNA to be socially connected. Check out The Extended Mind: The Power of Thinking Outside the Brain by Annie Murphy Paul. Sadly, our individualistic culture voraciously eats away at our group body memory, not to mention our hunger for Group Soul.
I’m fortunate to be a dancer. Dancers are often group body people who devotedly seek, find, and create little ensembles to uphold the grace of life.
What do I mean by a “group body person”?
Group-body people sense and prioritize the body of the team, corps de ballet, chorale, ensemble, or family. Connected with their Group Body, group body people flow from WE into one-to-one relationships. Being with at least one other person consistently accelerates my insight, love, and access to Guidance and Mystery.
As the Swedish proverb says, “Shared joy is a double joy; Shared sorrow is half a sorrow.” AS LONG AS THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU ARE AFFIRMING, LISTN, and WANT THE BEST FOR YOU.
That’s exactly why I started the Dance Chapel. I need to dance to pray, and to do it in a We-body. Dance Chapels are part of my higher power.
Today, I host six simple, intimate, soulfully led Dance Chapels that offer movement, poetry, and art that uplift beauty and prayer on behalf of each other and the world. N0 experience needed. Free to try. Just Zoom 825 748 1773, PW wedance. Click here

Speaking of groups…Two Art of Ensoulment groups start this week.
We’ll reclaim a spirituality that centers body, soul, imagination, and creativity– one that physically dignifies the sovereignty of our soul, the playfulness of the Divine, and feminine power in us all.
It’s not too late to join. Workshops are on the 4th week of the month.
Monday Groups are 2-4 PM PST Jan 22, Feb 26, Mar 25, April 22
Tuesday Groups are 9:30-11:30 am PST, Jan 23, Feb 27, Mar 26, April 23
If you can’t make the workshop times, an alternative is to watch the recordings and meet with an Ensoulment Coach.
