The Art of Ensoulment: The Power of Body to Body Transmissions
With A Gift for Paid Subscribers
What an honor when someone moves from following The Dancing Center to chipping in to support it. THANK YOU!
In gratitude, I'm sending the paid subscribers a delicious Set of Sublime Quotes for Body and Soul. I’ve slowly gathered these overtime as they resonate with my experience of Ensoulment.
I'm endlessly curious about the future of body, soul, the Dance of Life, and freedom. I’m so curious; I once had a full scholarship to get a Ph.D. in art and theology. Then, I recognized it was the apologetics path. I'd be teaching and writing as a woman whose research gets regularly othered as too relational, subjective, and intuitive, not to mention whose intelligence as a dancing body would be in conversation with a non-dancing and sometimes outright anti-dancing milieu. I didn't want to spend my life explaining my body of knowledge to a non-resonant crowd. I even attempted a second Ph.D. program once I established that I am a body intellectual. Diving deep into the pedagogy of the oppressed and education I needed to reflect on my role as a white woman in harmful, racist systems. I quit when my daughter needed braces. Fortunately, I wasn't in it for a degree. The big prize was what I learned. I share some of that in my book Chasing the Dance of Life: A Faith Journey
I still subscribe to Academia.edu, journals on art and theology and follow dozens of authors and artists on Substack and other platforms. Better yet, I get downloads from colleagues who are amazing Spiritual Directors, Therapists, Artists, Activists, and Mystics. people whose lives vibrate with Presence. And, of course, there is InterPlay where I’m a part of a dancing bodywise soular-system.
Experience It. Notice It. Reflect on It. Incorporate It.
The most fruitful research happens through play and what happens body to body.
I am thrilled that The Art of Ensoulment Playbook is in the world, especially when artist and spiritual leader friends like Laurie Rudel say, "The Art of Ensoulment" has become part of my morning meditation. I love having all this useful information, practice, and guidance gathered into one beautiful resource. The format invites reflection and wonder. This work is epic, reflecting the author's lifetime of embodied practices." Laurie Knows Me.
I believe that body-to-body transmissions are the most potent form of creative support. They’re direct, alive and in the present. When our body catches the truth from another, it goes way beyond empathy. We get the benefit of the lived experience of another as part of our support system.
When we get into direct relationship watch out! Perhaps this is why people with mojo often go to a Source to learn or reset their body wisdom. They travel to India, a retreat center, or take a live class.
The present is where everything happens. It’s where bodyspirits change and personal gifts get given.
Who are your teachers? What do you experience in their Presence?
Do you know that teacher transmit (put across) from their body to yours? And visa versa. Collaborative exchanges with a teacher can spark something like a love affair if there is a healthy balance. Like dancers, drummers, or athletes playing together, bodies resonate with the data and patterns stored in one another’s cells, muscles, breath, DNA, and networked. We sync up to each other’s creative spiritual intelligence (now there's a mouthful).
In ancient cultures, spiritual teachers would download their lineaged body of knowledge to a student in a transmission. A transmission goes beyond sending and receiving information on a cognitive or empathetic level. When we willingly open to a teacher’s transmission, dance with it, create, pray with it, and collaborate, we strengthen the template of that Living Reality.
I believe transmissions happen all of the time, and they aren’t all healthy. I also believe that the most advanced, enlightened transmission technologies are at work right now and coming through big time. It is one of the many reasons I have hope.
Divine Intelligence, The Mother of Us All, is at play. I bow to all teachers in all traditions who honor the ground of health and uphold each soul’s freedom to love and be. Share any groups or teachers whose transmissions support you. Let's honor them as our collective Spirit Team in the comments.

Sublime Soul Quotes for paid subscribers quotes like these
Soul is something creative, something active. Soul is honesty. I sing to people about what matters. I sing to the realists, people who accept it like it is. I express problems; there are tears when it’s sad and smiles when it’s happy. It seems simple to me, but to some, feelings take courage.
–Aretha Franklin
This earth is honey for all beings, and all beings are honey for this earth. The intelligent, immortal being, the soul of the earth, and the intelligent, immortal being, the soul in the individual being—each is honey to the other.
—Brihadaranyaka Upanishad
