Everything important to life on Earth requires mindfulness of PHYSICALITY. How do we transition through an election, a relationship, a beginning, an end, recovery, in or out of a job, anything? It all requires physical pivots, stops, leaps, rhythmic time, and knowing how to fall to the Earth, and the hope of grace.
Dance is an incredible teacher. You don’t have to be good at it to learn its lessons or receive its blessings. I just found Dr. Dance, Peter Lovatt, on Facebook, an expert in dance psychology. What a kick! Check him out!
Dance is one of the fastest ways to learn because when learning gets into your whole body, ideas and information stick!
Dance is a Power Gateway. Dance moves energy, and energy is power. If you want to understand energy and how organic power operates, then dance with people who are paying attention to it.
Dance unlocks spiritual intelligence. When a body moves in synch with others, it superconducts us into the World Wide Web and beyond. When that hook-up happens, humans experience a vast and wonderful intimacy. Dancing ignites communication between Creation and Creator.
If you dance your life, you have special powers. Even as I age, I know when to leap, pivot, keep time, and stop. I don’t need to perform these movements to know what movement is needed; they live in my body's memory. Even my mom, who had full-blown Alzheimer's, knew how to approach the moment when she danced.
Life is about transitions, and why I’m so grateful for the ability to pivot, pause, leap, fall, and rise. It’s also why everything I teach in my courses draws on the wisdom of body and soul. It’s practical, appreciates our limits, and opens us up to a way of being artful that is both personal and communal.
In the next few weeks, the course I am teaching on how to dance your life with Healthy Energy, Vision, and Love is one of my favorites! There’s still time to sign up. It’s on Wednesdays at 9:30 am Pacific. Pop over here. Coming Home to Body and Soul with the Art of Ensoulment.
Speaking of pivots, this is the last time I’m to teach this course in this way. Next year, I’ll focus on credentialing and supporting ensouled coaches, people who are called to support family and community. I plan to do less recruiting and to show up with more intimately- the gold of connection.
You can always find me in my sweet spot, the Monday 4:30 pm Pacific online dance chapel. It’s my prayer time. Ask me for the Zoom link.
Ah! There’s the pause, the exhale.
There’s a sweet spot happening for me. I welcome you to attend. I’m being honored among twenty others as a Nourishing Presence in the Sacred Dance Guild on Sunday at 4:30 Pacific and 7:30 Eastern. Let me know if you’d like to join or link here for the mini-festival, where I teach alongside some amazing humans.
A friend, Jacqueline, shared this poem from Chelan Harkin. It made her cry on behalf of all who dance with the sacred.
Ahhh yes to all this! Dancing in these days of extreme health challenges in my house and the passing of my beloved RoseBud (4 year old Border Collie) has truly deeply companioned me to “have” it all and “have” all of it. As always Cynthia, love to you and deepest gratitude! xoxx
Congratulations Cynthia! Thank you for your wisdom and this beautiful poem.
