I wish there was an emoji on substack like there is in text for the "Wow!" feeling... and other emoticons that show angst, distress, respect, and many more fine-tuned emotions!!

So I hit 'love' even though of course I don't "love" the horrific parts of the content that you address in your post - but I sure love the commitment, dedication and love for truth-telling and transformation that you have always shown in your writing and playing and teaching and Being!

I just inhaled your post.... and knowing we've both been working 'waking up' to our whiteness for many years now, it's humbling and inspiring, both, that we get to keep working on that which will set us all free. Especially in community! Thank you soooo much for this labor of love. Blessings to you and Soyinka in your continued work!

Thank you Suz! Writing is a strange craft where it’s hard to know what gets across or if I’ve done justice to my sensibilities. Your comment is so appreciated. I raise a

hand to my heart and a hand to you. I wish that could be an emoji.

On a day when there are many gathered together for reals, I just read your reply and feel the potency (& poignancy) of virtual connection….

I remember starting a blog 20 years ago acknowledging this very same thing… To write from our Hearts & Souls without knowing the impact…

May you continue with “the physicality of Grace”!♥️❣️

You are a gift to us all. This rings deep inside of me, no doubt echoing a cry from a distant ancestor who danced alongside your kin. Onward!

i’ve learned that some people with whom I travel today were part of the Hutchinson circle. I published more on the story today- involves intersections with Indigenous and Piritans who initiated practices of enslavement.

Thank you, Marla. She is a representative of a significant movement.. Next week I will write about my understanding of their resistance to take up arms in the genocide of the Pequot people and the role that played in their demise. It feels a bit like shouting in the dark that any of this matters. That our stories matter. Nonetheless....

This is some terrific writing, Cynthia. I confess I knew nothing about Anne Hutchinson but now I intend to remedy that. It was also good to be brought up to date on some of what you’ve been doing over the past decades. Your analysis of the “boxed in” church is spot on. Good work.

Thanks so much for reading and considering that this story matters. It's an incredible story, and it's curious that no films have been made about it. I am confronted by the dilemma that we white folk think our governments and churches are well-intentioned constructions.
